Land Instruments are specialists in the design and manufacture of monitors and analyzers for industrial infrared non-contact temperature measurement, combustion efficiency and environmental pollutant emissions with headquarters in the United Kingdom and has offices and distributors worldwide.
Land has been trading for well over a century. Initially in the silver plate trade, Land’s original factory was opened in 1908 on Queen’s Road, Sheffield, but the company was transformed in 1947 by Tom Land into a hi-tech business developing products for industrial temperature measurement.
In June 2006 LAND became part of the Process & Analytical Instruments Division ofAMETEK, Inc., a global supplier of high-end analytical instrumentation, with headquarters in Paoli, Pennsylvania, USA. AMETEK has approximately 11,000 employees, with over 80 manufacturing sites worldwide.
Land has provided a number of innovative solutions to temperature measurement for a variety of industries, including flu screening at airports during the recent avian fluand swine flu epidemics. Land also developed one of the first portable thermal imagers which was successfully used for real time analysis of the jet engines on theThrust SSC Land Speed Record breaking car.
In October 2013, Land Instruments International was selected as the runner up for theBritish Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAs) 2013 under the Design Team of the Year category for the design of the Spot Thermometer.
The latest product which LAND launched is the Spot Thermometer . It is a stand-aloneinfrared pyrometer design with advanced integrated processing capabilities. Combining Ethernet, Modbus TCP, Video, Analog and Alarm Outputs, SPOT makes all these conveniently available to the operator.
